Firefox 3 Revew
Sunday, 22 June 2008
The new Firefox 3 is FAST! I highly recommend everyone to get it. It hogs nowhere near the same amount of memory as Firefox 2 and is still compatible with very many add-ons. The graphical user interface (GUI) has been cleaned up and the thing is just smooth! Web pages are loading faster and the browser just feels so much  more responsive than ever before. Don't take my word for it.

Go here and see why Firefox 3 is setting the download records!

Setup cannot continue because a required file is either corrupted or not available.
Tuesday, 18 March 2008
Here's my official fix for the installation, upgrade, or uninstall problem where you can't get rid of Microsoft Office 2007 Ultimate Version or any of the other versions.

Setup cannot continue because a required file is either corrupted or not available. Run Setup again from original source disc or download location.

Most people are getting this problem because they are using an un-licensed copy of Microsoft Office 2007.

The fix? Easy go to this Microsoft page here, and download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility Package and use that to remove all traces of Microsoft Office 2007 from your system.

After you've done that, simply reboot your computer and install a licensed version if you have one. Goodluck!

Quick Update:

Some of you who are trying to install the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility Package on 32-bit Windows Vista machines might encounter an Error message:

Script
c:/users/admin/appdata/local/temp/Ixpooo.tmp/startmsi.vbs
line 17
char 1
error permission denied
code 8000046
source Microsoft VBScript runtime error.

If you get something like that, all you have to do is RIGHT-CLICK the installer file and "Run as Administrator". If you are  unable to find an icon afterwards to run the file, simply go to your "C:\Program Files\Windows Installer Cleanup\"  directory to run the program.

Treesize Professional is Awesome for Hard Drive Space Management
Monday, 10 March 2008
Here goes another one of those really cool utilities I've discovered on the internet. This cool program analyzes your entire hard drive and tells you how much space each folder is taking. It breaks it down in a very easy-to-read chart format that shows you the percentage space each folder takes up. You can go inside the sub-folders and be presented with the same charts over and over.

The bottom line, you can find out what the hell is taking up so much space on your drive and delete files as necessary. It's great for house-keeping and finding out where all your media files are.

Windows Picture and Fax Viewer SLOW all of the sudden
Saturday, 02 February 2008
Here's a quick tip to fix a weird glitch that has affected some Windows XP computers. The problem is that when you double-click on an image file, it takes nearly 10 seconds to load up using the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer as opposed to usual instantaneous performance.

Here's how you fix it, simply RIGHT-CLICK any image file, click on OPEN WITH, and click on "Choose Program".

A dialog window will pop-up. From here, select the Windows Picture Fax Viewer, and check the box that says "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file."

And then just click "OK" and you're done!

This slow Windows Picture and Fax Viewer problem is because you installed numerous programs that can all view pictures. When this happens, Windows takes longer to think about which program to use to open up your file. Now you can enjoy a fast XP Picture Viewer.

Spam-Fighting Methods That Don't Exist Yet
Tuesday, 23 October 2007
I'm tired of all the computer spam we're receiving nowadays. It's really pathetic that nobody has been able to write some good spam-detection software. It's amazing that we have all this great software but somehow no method of truly filtering out spam emails! I still get tons of crap everyday about viagra, enlargement, weird stock names, unknown weight loss pills, and no-name mortgage companies!

Included is a just-for-fun list of filters someone should invent to prevent all spam emails - for now...
