Adding ram to your computer makes it run faster and smoother. Learn how to do it properly in 5 minutes, and then spend another 5 minutes installing it. Voila! Memory upgrade complete in 10 minutes!
Before I begin, I have to apologize for the horrible pictures taken with my camera phone. I promise to upload better pictures later. Ram is installed onto the motherboard. All ram slots, on any motherboard, are similar in terms of how it looks. Some of the older SD-RAM will have 2 notches on the ram stick. The newer DDR and DDR2 will have only 1 notch. The concept is still the same – Align the notches properly with the slot on the motherboard and put it in. - Open the panel on the side of your computer (tower) that allows you to look directly at your motherboard.
- Locate the ram slots on your motherboard. The motherboard should have 2 or more ram slots depending on the type of motherboard you own.
Ram Slots:

- Your DDR ram stick should look like this. The KEY THING is to RECOGNIZE that there notch on the ram stick is NOT IN THE MIDDLE! It is slightly off to one side; therefore you must look at the ram slot on your motherboard carefully and align it correctly!

Insert the ram stick into the slots and lock it in with the two latches on both sides of the slot: (*Note: It doesn’t matter which slot you use, nor do you have to fill them all up UNLESS you want to run your ram in DUAL- CHANNEL DDR mode, in which case you must consult your motherboard manufacturer.)

Once you’ve locked in the ram stick, you’re finished! Have something interesting to add? Send to
