Ok, so here we are. You're trying to backup files and maybe the entire image from your laptop hard drive. Maybe your laptop doesn't work any longer and you need the files, but for whatever reason, you've pulled out the laptop hard drive and don't know what you to do.

The solution to this problem is much easier than you think.
All you need are 2 devices:

(1) IDE to USB adapter (~$20 and often includes the Laptop IDE to regular IDE adapter)
(1) Laptop IDE to regular IDE adapter (~$6)

You can buy these anywhere. I got mine from www.chiefvalue.com

It's pretty simply how it works. Put the laptop IDE adapter on the back of your notebook hard drive, and then plug the IDE to USB adapter into the back of that. MAKE SURE THAT YOU PLUG IT IN PROPERLY and that the pins are properly aligned!

Now, all you have to do is plug the free USB end into another computer and your hard drive should show up under My Computer.

EASY, HUH? - You can also use the IDE to USB adapter to backup regular IDE hard drives to another computer as well. This tool is pretty much a MUST-HAVE for all techies.
