This article is not to promote illegal use or piracy of Microsoft Windows XP...you are fully encourage to buy the real thing. RFUZ does not encourage piracy...this guide is meant for those that have the real thing but are left hanging because this glitch bug affected their website!
Go to your "C" drive then open the "Windows" folder. Inside there is a folder called "System32", go in there and find the files named WgaTray.exe and wgalogon.dll.
Right click on them and click rename and then rename them to WgaTray1.exe and wgalogon1.dll.
Now hit CTRL, ALT, DELETE to start up your Task Manager. Click on the tab called "Processes" and right-click on the process called WgaTray.exe. and click "End Process". A window might come up asking you if you're sure you want to end the task or process, just click "OK" if it does.
Now restart your computer and the Windows
Genuine Advantage Notifications will magically disappear.

the system32 folder is inside the windows folder. It's definitely there....maybe it's a hidden folder so make sure you show hidden files... let me know if this helps.

Thank's alot for this tip. It works no more start up notfication and no blue star in tool bar. Just to let all of you all know. I have a dell 3yr's old I brought oem copy new in the package
with the windows hologram I know for sure it an offical copy of windows xp pro. But Microsoft does not let you put this type of oem on a dell computer you have to use an oem copy from dell.

I got a Dell machine with Win XP Pro. The Original Dell Reinstallation CD is Service Pack 1a. Now with the SP2, I get this dumb blue star. So, is my 1a OEM and legal and the SP2 not ?!?

hey art.... are you using the CD that came with the system? Microsoft validation techniques are not always accurate and therefore mis-labeling your computer as "BOOTLEG". You can try the crack-tips in the forums.

Suffered through the Bule Star for some time even though my Windows Xp was legit. I didn't want to jerk around with all the fixes that really played with the registry. I stumbled across this fix and thought, "this is too easy"! Well, no more warning hologram, no more black screen and no more irritation.
