So far the most common use for a crossover cable is to connect 2 computers directly to each other without using a switch, or for diagnostic purposes with certain networking equipment. Regardless of whatever you use it for, here's how you do it:
You will crimp one end of the cable exactly like how you would with a regular Ethernet cable. If you need it, here is the wiring order: orange-stripe, orange, green-stripe, blue, blue-stripe, green, brown-stripe, brown.
Now on the OTHER END, you will do the same EXCEPT, you will switch the orange pair with the green pair. So where orange stripe would've gone, you put green stripe, and vice versa, etc.
