You don't feel like paying the high prices of replacement ink cartridges but then again, you don't want to compromise print quality with generic brand ink. Are HP, Epson, Canon, and all the other printer manufacturers simply trying to rip us off by making us pay more for ink than the printer itself? Read this guide to find out to see how you can save money when buying ink cartridges.
The question is: Is generic ink as good as the real thing? The answer is yes. A resounding yes, especially for black ink. You can expect quality to vary with with color ink cartridges and color ink refill kits. Black ink replacement cartridges and black ink refill kits are a GREAT BARGAIN! A great way to save money is to buy a refill kit. Keep in mind that an ink cartridge won't last forever, the circuits on it die after a while and it loses the ability to print ink. Ideally, you should be able to refill an ink cartridge about 10-15 times before having to buy a new cartridge. I buy blank ink in giant bottles. A bottle large enough for 100 refills costs me only $20 after shipping and handling! Yet it saves me roughly $1500-1800 in replacement ink cartridges! Ink cartridges are much too expensive nowadays. A black ink cartridge can cost anywhere from $15-35 for a name-brand cartridge. Generic branded cartridges will still cost you about $7-25. The price of ink is incredibly high these days and many manufacturers actually make money off the ink. That's how they're able to sell you their printers at such a low cost. The ink makes up for them in the long run the same way mobile phone wireless providers give you a free phone to start a plan with them. The conclusion is that if you want to be safe AND save a ton of money. Buy a giant refill bottle for black ink and use the original brand name for the color ink, or you can find generic brand color ink and compare the results for yourself. If you're not printing photos, generic brand color ink will do just fine! Using an ink refill kit is EASY! It comes with a syringe and you just inject it into your ink cartridges. There's no reason why you can't start saving money today!
