Another review of global giant computer-maker company Dell. A simple guide about why or why not to buy a Dell computer. Here are some reasons why you should buy Dell and some reasons why you shouldn't.

REASONS TO BUY DELL:

PRICE - They sell the more computers than anybody else therefore they can afford to have lower profit margins. They also have very low overhead prices and a very lean distribution channel via internet and mailorder which means your end price is better! They have tons of coupon deals and sales through Gotapex.com and their inventory control system will give very high discounts during surplus periods. Their prices change everyday so you never have to wait too long to get a good deal. The bottom line is, pound-for-pound, and when comparing apples to apples, Dell is the LEAST COSTLY!

QUALITY - I can't say they are the best quality but for the money you pay, it is VERY VERY good. I've found most Dells to last a bit past their stated warranty periods with MINOR repair. This is the 21st century, computer components will always be more and more packed into the same size box so you can't expect a million micro-sized electronic components all dependent on each other to last 10 years. However with that being said, the failure rate is not as high as you would believe. It costs computer companies a lot of money to have to come out and make good on their warranty so you must understand that Dell will try to give you the best components possible....but made by the lowest bidder.

STANDARD - Dell has very quickly become the standard computer used by many people. This is useful because there will always be people who have the same computer as you and can give you helpful advice and tips when you are in need. The other advantage is that if something breaks you can find an abundance of spare parts or compatible replacements via ebay for a cheap price since there is so many. There will always be plenty of computer accessories to fit the standard computer.

REASONS NOT TO BUY DELL:

CUSTOMER SERVICE - You must understand that the cheap price you pay for the computer can never afford to pay for GOOD, KNOWLEDGEABLE, and EFFICIENT tech support. Something has to give and you have to understand that you get what you pay for. All computer companies routinely cycle in and out of good and bad customer service periods. There's really no such thing as a "good" or "bad" company. Everyone will have varying experiences but the you must understand the big idea.

ULTIMATE PERFORMANCE - If you want the best possible computer, you should build it yourself. Dell's computers are built by the masses FOR the masses so don't expect absolute performance. The best computer for a power-user is one built to your standards using the parts you choose. This route may be a bit harder or more costly but it's worth it if performance is what you need.

YOU HATE DELL - If you hate Dell, go for HP. It's really the same thing to me. Both these companies are always trying to out-innovate each other and they do a pretty good job trying to sell to the low-end market.

ALTERNATIVES:

There are plenty of other computer companies out there. Build your own or buy from another company. Don't be too cheap and try to read reviews before you buy a computer. Good luck!
