Here's my official fix for the installation, upgrade, or uninstall problem where you can't get rid of Microsoft Office 2007 Ultimate Version or any of the other versions.
Setup cannot continue because a required file is either corrupted or not available. Run Setup again from original source disc or download location.
Most people are getting this problem because they are using an un-licensed copy of Microsoft Office 2007.
The fix? Easy go to this Microsoft page here, and download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility Package and use that to remove all traces of Microsoft Office 2007 from your system.
After you've done that, simply reboot your computer and install a licensed version if you have one. Goodluck!
Quick Update:
Some of you who are trying to install the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility Package on 32-bit Windows Vista machines might encounter an Error message:
Script
c:/users/admin/appdata/local/temp/Ixpooo.tmp/startmsi.vbs
line 17
char 1
error permission denied
code 8000046
source Microsoft VBScript runtime error.
If you get something like that, all you have to do is RIGHT-CLICK the installer file and "Run as Administrator". If you are unable to find an icon afterwards to run the file, simply go to your "C:\Program Files\Windows Installer Cleanup\" directory to run the program.
