How to Remove
Adware/Spyware/Malware/Junkware
from your PC!
Stop spyware now! Follow this simple guide to do it!

The first and most obvious step is to go to control panel > add/remove programs and uninstall programs that you don't use or don't want. If you don't know what a program does, Google it up and see if it's spyware.

Download the Free AVG Antivirus from http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5
Download the free trial version of SpySweeper from http://www.webroot.com/

Make sure you do the online updates for Free AVG.
Make sure you do the definition updates for SpySweeper.

Restart your computer after downloading the updates and check again to see if there's any more updates. Restart your computer as necessary.

After you are done downloading the updates, just start scanning your computer with both programs at once, even!

Let's say you finished scanning and there is STILL spyware/adware raiding your computer, it basically means that the Spyware can't be removed because it's running in the back. You have 2 choices, I recommend doing 1 first then the other if needed. First, turn on your computer in safe mode, if you don't  (Hold F8 while your computer is booting up and you see the Windows XP loading screen with the bar), then select safe mode with networking, then scan while in "Safe Mode". If that doesn't work, you'll need to take out your hard-drive and plug it into a friend's computer as a slave and scan it from there.

To prevent spyware/adware/malware/junkware programs from starting up when you boot up your computer, go to the Start Menu, and look under All Programs > Startup folder and delete all the stuff you know shouldn't be starting up.

You can also go to Start > Run > type in "msconfig"

then click on the Startup TAB, and then uncheck programs that you know shouldn't be starting up. If you see some weird names and you're not sure what programs they are... LEAVE THEM ALONE, they might be related to windows! There are actually plenty of other sites that will give you a list of names that are related to windows and you can go through it one by one and compare for yourself.

Using FireFox instead of Internet Explorer will help you A LOT! FireFox doesn't allow ActiveX and many other things and doesn't have all the flaws that Internet Explorer does. By installing and using FireFox, you have saved A LOT of hassle. FireFox is also very useful because of the many downloadable plug-ins that make it more flexible than any other web browser out there. It's free, get it now!
